A Storage facility (sometimes called a oil depot, tank farm, Dockyard, installation or oil terminal) is an industrial facility for the storage of oil and/or petrochemical products and from which these products are usually transported to end users or further storage facilities. An oil depot typically has tankage, either above ground or below ground, and gantries for the discharge of products into road tankers or other vehicles (such as barges) or rail or to pipelines using loading Pumps.

Storage tanks are contain liquids or compressed gases. The gases at saturated phase are usually stored in Horton Spheres or Mounded Bullets.

Aviation Fuel Station (AFS) is a facility to store and transport aviation fuel to aircrafts. Aviation fuel is stored in tanks from where it is filled in refuellers. These refuellers are sent to the airport for filling the fuel in the aircraft. Location of such AFS is usually near airports for easy access and timely supply.

Dockyard: A storage terminal located near water sources  are known as Dockyard terminals.

Terminal/POL/IRD/ Depot: Petroleum products (MS/HSD/SKO/Naphtha/Methanol.. etc.) stored in various types of tanks typically Fixed Roof Tanks, Floating Roof Tanks, Horizontal Tanks and Dome Tanks are named as POL/Depot.

Bottling Plants: The bottling plant is a facility where pressurized gases, usually LPG is put into bottles for storage and transport.
